Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) --  Good News! Chronic Fatigue Syndrome can often be corrected -- frequently within 2 to 6 weeks.  There are several different underlying causes of this syndrome, so there is no one-size-fits-all approach to treating CFS.

The first step to getting better is to make an appointment for a Wellness Consultation with one of our problem-solving pharmacists.

If you're ready to feel better, call the pharmacy at 205-870-3150 to schedule an appointment with one of our problem-solving pharmacists.

Chronic Infections -- Chronic infections can become a vicious cycle that is hard to resolve.  When it comes to clearing up chronic infections we have to support our immune system.

The problem is that we don't really 'have' an immune system as much as we 'are' an immune system.  When you think about all the different organs and glands that play a part in the immune system (bones, thymus gland, adrenal gland, lymph glands, the normal flora in the gut, spleen, etc) it's easy to see how this can be a very 'universal' problem for our bodies to clear up.

For this reason we recommend a wellness consultation with one of our problem-solving pharmacists.

If you're ready to feel better, call the pharmacy at 205-870-3150 to schedule an appointment with one of our problem-solving pharmacists.

Dermatitis (Eczema) -- This condition is most often a 'dis-ease' resulting from adrenal fatigue.  Please click here to learn more about adrenal fatigue.  If the itching is just driving you crazy.  This symptom can be quickly brought under control with the use of a homeopathic medication.  We can also compound a topical cream to help heal and clear up the affected area more quickly.  These creams are available as OTC and RX creams.

Why don't you e-mail us with some information about your dermatitis and what you have already tried and/or are currently using and we can help you determine what the next best step will be for you to get it under control!  E-Mail Us

F
Fibromyalgia -- We have worked with many people with fibromyalgia.  Our experience is that this is one of the most difficult health problems to clear up and it takes time.

Fibromyalgia is often associated with chronic fatigue and irritable bowel syndrome.  The good news is that these are usually cleared up in 2-3 weeks.  However, you have to stick with the program to get the Fibromyalgia cleared up.

Typically there are several different systems in the body that are out of balance and need to be re-balanced before a full recovery from fibromyalgia can be made.

Often times getting back to wellness is like getting to the center of an onion -- there are several layers that need to be peeled away before you get to the center or, in the case of fibromyalgia, get back to wellness.

If you are sick and tired of sick and tired and no longer interested in just talking about your fibromyalgia and want to take charge of your health and take responsibility for getting better, then we are ready to help.

Getting over fibromyalgia is kind of like kicking a smoking habit -- you've got to have firm resolve and have to be mentally prepared to "do battle" because it takes some time and a big part of recovery from fibromyalgia is your attitude and your self talk.

There is no room for whining and pity parties.  This type of self talk and thinking will undo anything that we are trying to do to help you.  So, if you're ready to feel better, the first step is to make an appointment with one of our problem-solving pharmacists for a wellness consultation.  During this consultation we will work with you to develop a rational therapy plan that is specific to you to correct your IBS.

If you are ready to feel better, call the pharmacy to schedule an appointment with one of our problem-solving pharmacists.

G
GERD (Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease, also known as 'reflux' and heart burn) -- GERD can be caused by one of two things that are basically exact opposites of one another.  First it can be caused by over-production of stomach acid.  This condition is called Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome.  The incidence of this syndrome is about one in a million.  And yet, almost everyone is put on medications to stop the production or release of stomach acid as if they all have Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome.

These medications include a class of drugs which prevent the production of stomach acid are called "proton-pump inhibitors" or "PPI's", commonly called the "purple pills" such as Prilosec, Prevacid and Nexium.  The other class of drugs allows the acid to be made, but not released.  These are called "histamine-blockers, or H2 blockers such as Zantac (ranitidine) and Tagamet (cimetidine).

If you look in the PDR it says that PPIs are only indicated for 4 to 8 weeks of use, and yet its common to hear people say they have been on these drugs for 4 to 8 years!  Studies show that long term use of these medications increase risk community acquired pneumonia -- one of the leading causes of death in the elderly today!

If you have been taking one a PPI and H2 blockers for a long period of time, you have to ask yourself a series of 3 questions: 1. If these drugs prevent me from producing stomach acid, how am I digesting my food? (answer: you aren't)  2.  If I'm not digesting my food, how am I absorbing any nutrients? (answer: you're not absorbing enough)  3.  If I'm not absorbing enough nutrients, how can my body possible remain healthy so that it can function like it is supposed to, so that I can age well? (answer:  it can't).

Simply put, these medications can be of great help in healing stomach ulcers and treating GERD when used short term.  But they are not good for us when used long term.  That's why the FDA has only approved their use for 4 to 8 weeks.

The other, 'opposite' reason for GERD is that you are not producing enough digestive acid and so the food in your stomach does not get digested.  Rather, it sits their and rots!  The by-products of the rotting food in your stomach are gas which explains your bloating and organic acids, which explain the GERD, or heartburn.

Under-production of digestive acids is a normal part of aging -- as we get older, we make less and less digestive acid.  It can also be a symptom of 'dis-ease' commonly seen with adrenal fatigue.  In these cases, either direct digestive support or adrenal support is the key to getting better.

To come up with a rational therapy plan to get you feeling better fast, we recommend a wellness consultation with one of our problem-solving pharmacists.

If you're ready to feel better, call the pharmacy at 205-870-3150 to schedule an appointment with one of our problem-solving pharmacists.

Heartburn --

Hemorrhoids -- We make a unique suppository specifically for treating hemorrhoids.  It is called a 'rectal rocket'.

This suppository is designed so that part of the suppository is inserted into the rectum to treat internal hemorrhoids, while the larger flared end of the suppository remains on the outside to treat external hemorrhoids.  This dosage form also allows the active ingredients to be delivered directly to the hemorroids for several hours.  In comparison, a typical suppository slides right past the area where the medication is needed.  These are available in OTC and prescription strength.

We also have a homeopathic remedy to help treat hemorroids as well as a whole food nutritional product that supports healthy, strong blood vessels to prevent future hemorrhoids that we can recommend.

Wounds That Won't Heal (Diabetic Ulcers)-- The general rule of thumb for wound healing is to keep a dry wound moist and a moist wound dry, so we compound both a Wound Care Powder as well as a Wound Care Cream.  Our experience is that within a week the wound is often 50% reduced in size with the use of these formulas.

If part of the reason that the wound is not healing well is due to poor circulation to the area, such as a diabetic ulcer on a toe, we also compound a transdermal gel that can be applied to the area (not in the wound itself) to help improve circulation which is needed for proper wound healing.

Why don't you e-mail us with some information about your specific wound care problem and what you have already tried and/or are currently using and we can help you determine what the next best step will be for you to get your wound healed up once & for alll!  E-Mail Us
