Our philosophy towards working with our patients is summed up with four words:  Holistic, Integrative, Naturopathic and Respectful Humility.

Holistic:  This means that we don't focus on the symptoms (up in the branches).  Rather, we focus on getting to the root of the problem -- if we can provide you with the support your body needs to correct the underlying problem, then the symptoms go away on their own.  To do this, we have to back up and look at the whole person -- often people come with complaints about several different sypmtoms if we focus to closely on the symptoms we end up just treating them.  However, if we back up a little to get a broader perspective, it is amazing how many of their symptoms have the same underlying root cause!

Integrative:  As pharmacists, we are trained to help our patients create rational therapy plans to solve their health-related problems.  Our pharmacists are unique in that they have the training to integrate the best from RX, OTC, herbal, homeopathic and nutritional medicine when creating such plans.

Naturopathic:  refers to an approach to medicine that emphasizes the ability of the body to heal itself.  Naturopaths contend that such a capacity for self-healing is innate and can be supported with a variety of modalities such as those listed above rather than to use synthetic drugs.   

Respectful Humility:  In the end, our philosophy also includes that of giving our recommendations, never making mandates or insisting upon a certain course of therapy.  In the end, we tell our patients that, "it's your body, you should have the final say in what goes into it and it's your pocket book, you should have the final say in what comes out of it.  Or, as Suzanne Somers says, in our patient - healthcare provider relationship, you, the patient are the contractor and I am just your subcontractor.  In the end you get to make the final decision.
